For an overnight stay at Samal Island, Kostal Beach Resort spared a room for us that costs around PHP1900 including breakfast for 3 persons.
Kaputian Island is an hour away from Sta. Ana Wharf. It is part of the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) in Davao Del Norte. When we arrived at Kaputian, we first went to Hagimit Falls and Monfort Bat Cave.We then looked for a place where we can spend our night with as we were not able to reserve one ahead of time. There are quite a number of small resorts in Kaputian but many of them are fully booked especially because it was peak season when we got there.
Luckily, we foundKostal Beach Resort. It is not the cheapest one you can get in Kaputian but we chose it because rooms are newer and cleaner. It is around PHP300 – PHP500 more expensive than the others we found in the area but we surely did not regret staying in Kostal.
The room we got is good for two persons. Since we are three, we asked for an extra mattress. The room is small but is very clean. More importantly, the restroom is also clean and water supply is good. Towels are provided but you have to bring your own toiletries.
The resort has a mini swimming pool. But we decided to do our night swimming at the small beach front of Kostal. In the morning, the waters we swam through in the evening back off the shore because of low tide.
At the beach front, a space is provided with a few tables and chairs. There is also a small area for videoke or late-at-night chat.
The staff of the resort is very helpful and attended to our needs very well. They are also friendly. Note that we experienced brownout in the morning. As we were told, they usually experience it in the morning.
