Looking for an accommodation in South Korea, we found Khaosan Seoul Insadong Guest House apartment where our group stayed for six nights.
About Khaosan Guest House
Just a walking distance from the Jongno-3ga station, Khaosan Seoul Insadong Guest House is a small apartment having 25 rooms. It has a good location as you can reach the subway in five minutes and it’s surrounded with shops and restaurants.
Our group was fond of eating late-at-night street food snacks just near the guest house (gimbap every night, lol). I remember we ate at the same stall each time owned by an old couple that we even felt sad during the last chance we got to see them.
Located at the fifth floor, our room has two bunk beds. Although the guest house is not that new, the room provided to us was clean and was equipped with just the necessary amenities we needed. There was no elevator in the building but the staff were more than helpful to assist us to carry our luggage. But if you will be able to ask for a room at the lower floors, the better.
Our room had the provision for the following: flat-screen TV, mini refrigerator, hairdryer, and slippers.
With toiletries, the bathroom was clean with a bathtub. A hot and cold shower was also available.
Shared Kitchen and Living Room
Khaosan Guest House offers a shared kitchen and living room to all guests. The living room was one of our favorite spots where we would stay to plan for the day or just to have a quick chat at night. There was also a computer available that guests can use and the area had WI-FI.
Each day, a simple complimentary breakfast was provided that included bread, eggs, jam, cereals, coffee, and tea. We get to prepare it in the shared kitchen.
Cool and Friendly Staff
At the reception area, you will notice some notes and souvenirs left by the guests.
They usually rotate staff and we were happy to meet Minnie and Andrew. They would exert the extra effort to help us each time we asked for something. They had been like cool friends to us. At the end of our stay, we knew why guests would leave some sweet words.
Our group of three paid for a total of KRW 416,500 for six nights (approximately PHP 19,796.39). We did not provide any down payment during our booking, we paid directly at the guest house.
How to Go to Khaosan Seoul Insadong Guest House
If you are looking for an affordable yet a comfortable and decent place to stay in Seoul, Khaosan Guest House is definitely a good choice. Aside from the amazing treatment from the staff, its location is superb – near the subway, restaurants, and shops. Going to the airport is also easy from Khaosan, you will just cross the other side of the street where you can ride a bus to Incheon International Airport and travel time is only one hour.
The only consideration that you might have is that the building has no elevators. If you have elderlies or company that might have difficulty climbing the stairs, you might want to ask for rooms located at the lower floors.
